Journey to the Summit of the Future - Episode 8

Journey to the Summit of the Future - Episode 8

Episode 8 of the Journey to the Summit of the Future features Rebeca Grynspan, Secretary-General of UN Trade and Development (formerly UNCTAD).

As the Summit approaches in September 2024, negotiations are underway on a Pact for the Future, the outcome document to be adopted by countries at this global meeting. One key aspect of this Pact is reform of the multilateral financial system. Our world is facing crippling levels of public debt, and according to UN data, 3.3 billion today are living in countries where debt interest payments are greater than expenditure on health and education.

How can we ensure developing countries have the finance they need to survive global shocks while investing in the development of their people? How can we reform our multilateral financial architecture? Rebeca Grynspan shares her knowledge, and why UN Trade and Development is dedicated to supporting developing countries through sustainable development.
