The Total Digital Access to the League of Nations Archives project (LONTAD) transformed research on multilateralism. The project, which was underway at the United Nations Library & Archives, digitized and provided online access to the entirety of the 15 million pages of these critical archives, inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register.
Participants had the opportunity to learn about:
The LONTAD project and some of the fascinating documents encountered.
The project’s new research platform and how to use it.
Why research about the League was crucial to understanding multilateralism as practiced at that time.
The importance of democratizing access to materials on the League.
How creating digital archives opened the door to the latest innovative research methodologies that carried the potential to unlock new insights.
